Job Summary

Sales of building materials to trade and DIY customers

Duties include:

  • serve customers with their requirements and provide information as required
  • assemble orders for collection or delivery
  • generate sales opportunities
  • build effective relationships with the customers
  • answer the telephone and provide information as required
  • provide estimates and quotes to customers as required
  • load returns on to suppliers transport
  • provide information to customers about products
  • pick customer orders
  • raise purchase orders as necessary to fulfil customer requirements
  • progress and monitor orders
  • replenish stock locations
  • maintain the point of sale information
  • take part in stock takes
  • present a professional image of the company
  • fulfil any reasonable task that is requested
Responsibilities include:
  • ensure that goods are accurately booked to customers
  • check that accurate quotes and estimates are given to customers
  • accurately record all sales through the computer system
  • accurately book all methods of payments through the computer system
  • advise the correct person of any short falls in stock levels
  • conform with health and safety
  • follow company security procedures
Knowledge required:
  • have a willingness to learn the products on sale
  • learn the computer stock system
  • have the skills to learn the point of sale computer
  • have the organisational skills to conduct transactions professionally
  • be able to deal with difficult situations with customers
  • have the ability to be a team player
  • present a positive image of the company
  • present a professional image of the company at all times
