Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) Apprenticeships: The BMF is the trade organisation for the industry and offers special apprenticeships that provide trainees with a National Vocational Qualification and also give special training in merchanting. This Government funded programme for the under-25's leads to a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in either distribution and warehousing; customer service; retail administration at Levels 2 or 3. Learning about Building and Plumbing Products: BMF and MOL (Manchester Open Learning) offer distance learning packages that can be studied whilst working. They provide information about groups of building products (e.g. cements, bricks, plumbing materials, brassware and insulation products).
